How the settings work

Start with the hues

The Theme section has five hues, one for each role: Primary, Neutral, Success, Warning and Danger. The quiz styles build lighter and darker tones from each. Set these first; the other sections override individual parts.

Empty means "inherit"

Most settings start empty, and an empty setting isn't "no color". Its description says what it follows, for example "Empty inherits the Primary Hue." Clearing a setting returns it to that value, not to transparent.

What's styled

The quiz styles cover every LearnDash question type: single choice, multiple choice, free choice, sorting choice, matrix sorting choice, fill in the blank, assessment and essay. They also style the start screen, custom fields form, review box, time limit, results, leaderboard, and the quiz statistics popup on the profile page.

LearnDash templates

Quiz Customizer works with both of LearnDash's Active Template options in LearnDash LMS → Settings → General → Design & Content Elements:

  • LearnDash 3.0: every setting applies.
  • Legacy: the layout, button, border radius, review box and timer bar settings apply, along with Correct and Incorrect. The hues, the tints, Light Background, the review box border, and the timer container and bar background don't. Secondary buttons are always filled.

Quiz pages always use LearnDash's classic quiz design, even if you've turned on LearnDash's Modern course and lesson pages.

Using Design Upgrade Pro for LearnDash too?

Design Upgrade Pro for LearnDash includes the same quiz settings. When both plugins are active, Design Upgrade Pro takes over:

  • the Quiz Customizer for LearnDash panel disappears from the Customizer, and the settings appear in Design Upgrade Pro's Quiz sections instead
  • the Customize link for Quiz Customizer takes you there
  • your quiz settings carry over as they are; both plugins share them
