Theme compatibility

Design Upgrade is built to work with almost any WordPress theme. It styles LearnDash's own markup rather than your theme's, and picks up your theme's fonts, so your courses fit in with the rest of your site.

It's tested with BuddyBoss, Kadence, Astra, Divi, GeneratePress, OceanWP and block themes, and with the Elementor, Beaver Builder and Divi page builders, including LearnDash's Elementor integration.

Themes with their own fixes

Some themes ship their own LearnDash styles, which would fight with Design Upgrade's. For these, the plugin steps in automatically, including when you use a child theme:

ThemeWhat Design Upgrade does
AstraTurns off Astra's LearnDash stylesheet
OceanWPTurns off OceanWP's LearnDash stylesheet and adjusts form field padding and the Course Grid caption
BuddyBossMaps your Design Upgrade Pro settings onto BuddyBoss's LearnDash layouts, including quizzes and BuddyBoss's dark mode. See BuddyBoss.

The free version also turns off Astra's and OceanWP's LearnDash styles.

LearnDash templates

Design Upgrade Pro works with LearnDash's LearnDash 3.0 and Legacy templates, and shows the matching settings in the Customizer. Its settings also reach LearnDash's Modern course, group, lesson and registration pages.

LearnDash's newer Breezy template isn't supported yet: the Customizer settings still appear, but they have no effect.

If something looks wrong

  1. Work through Troubleshooting: caching and CSS concatenation cause most problems.
  2. Switch to a default theme, such as Twenty Twenty-Five, on a staging site. If the problem goes away, your theme's CSS is overriding Design Upgrade's.
  3. Contact support with your theme's name and the page where you see the problem.
