Troubleshooting
My changes don't show on the live site
When you click Publish, the plugin writes your design to one stylesheet in wp-content/uploads/h5p-design-upgrade/. Every H5P activity loads that file.
- Clear your caches. Clear any page or caching plugin, your host's cache and your CDN, then reload with a hard refresh.
- Check the uploads folder is writable. If WordPress can't write to
wp-content/uploads/h5p-design-upgrade/, the plugin keeps serving the last stylesheet it wrote, or its default design if there isn't one, and doesn't show an error. Ask your host to check the folder's permissions. - Rebuild the stylesheet. Change any setting in the Customizer and click Publish. You can also delete the
h5p-design-upgradefolder in uploads; the plugin writes a fresh one the next time someone views an activity.
One activity looks different from the rest
- The author set colors in the activity. Colors and opacity set inside an H5P activity always win over the plugin. Check the activity's own settings, and for Memory Game, Look and feel → Theme Color in H5P's settings.
- It uses H5P's older or newer design. Some settings, like Content Density, only reach activities that use H5P's newer design. See newer and older H5P activities.
- It's embedded from somewhere else. The plugin only styles content added through the H5P WordPress plugin.
My font isn't used
Activities load in their own frame, so they can't use a font that your theme loads on the page. On Typography, enter the font in Site font: Custom Family and its stylesheet in Site font: Stylesheet URL. Also check Font isn't set to H5P default.
A setting does nothing
Some settings only apply in certain cases:
- Course Presentation's slides list Background only applies when Background Type is Solid Color.
- Interactive Book's Bottom Border Color only shows once Bottom Border Width is set.
- Content Containers → Background Color doesn't apply to Audio, Interactive Video, Course Presentation, Accordion, Arithmetic Quiz or Flashcards.
- If you clear a color and it doesn't go back to your hue, check General Design: an empty Neutral Hue leaves each component on its own gray.
